Watercolour with Markers

This week's CAS-ual Friday's challenge asks us to use markers in our projects...

I was pretty excited about this one because I have a marker technique that I absolutely love to do! It's something I learned through classes offered by my local stamp shop, Heather's Stamping Haven. Twice a year Heather hosts workshops put on by Krista Schneider. Krista developed a technique using Tombow markers to create a watercolour effect on watercolour paper. It's one of my favorite marker techniques because it's kinda loosey-goosey in that you can "colour" the same image a dozen times and it won't turn out the same. There is no wrong (yay!!!).

I decided to do three baby cards because there are two pregnant ladies at work and I know I'll be needing them soon-ish. I stamped the onesy and embossed it with black ink - this helps hold in the colour when you add the water - then I chose two complementary shades of each of the three colours.

I used the lightest shade to colour in the whole onesy and the darker shade to add shadow and depth. Once you've added your colour, you load up your brush with water and swoosh around (a little more technical than that but kinda hard to explain without video?). Here's what you wind up with:

Lots of fun to do! If you look here you'll see another card I made almost a year ago using this technique. Now I'm off to see what everybody else has done over at CAS-ual Fridays...enjoy your Sunday!
