I love Saturday

It's my favorite day of the week because I get to lay in bed in the morning thinking about cards I'd like to make and then get up, toddle down to the craft room and do it. Best part of the day. Only made better by being really inspired by a couple of challenges. I love the Less is More colour challenge this week - look at this colour combination! YUM!

And this awesome technique challenge at CAS-ual Fridays - create your own background!

I did a little something extra for my card this time based on the amazing dies that Laurie Willison of Soapbox Creations has designed. I've bought both and by way of this post I'm asking her to puleeze make some more in other sizes!! They are such a fantastic idea and make what I did below sooooo much easier and prettier!

So my cards hardly ever wind up being standard sizes and I end up making a lot of custom envelopes and having to adapt people's ideas (see Laurie's above) to fit my cards. Here's how I adapted the card hanger idea for my square card:

I cut a slit in the bag using a self-healing mat I had that fortunately fit inside the bag so I didn't cut through both sides of the bag. (I did wind up doing that a few times anyways when I forgot to put it inside the bag before cutting duh!). Then I heat embossed the pattern I had used for the card onto the bag to tie them together and dress up the opening a little. I'm happy with how it turned out but would LOVE a die that did it, eliminated all the fussy stuff and let me use pretty paper to dress up the opening (hint! hint!). Here's one with just the card:

Still not feeling 100% so back to bed for a nap now. If I'm lucky I might dream up something else to make later. *Ü*

    1. If I had my wish there'd be ones for square cards like in 4" & 5" sizes. I make a lot of square cards. *Ü*

  10. Isn't Laurie's die such a genius idea? Not only does it decorate the bag, but you don't have to worry about an envelope for those odd-sized cards, or for the card that are really thick with embellishments. Love the background you created and then embossed ... looks like it's stamped pretty darn near perfect. Thanks so much for playing at CAS-ual Fridays!
